AM Drums – healing Chakras through music

AM Drums make a special Chakra Drum designed for healing and awakening the Chakras. Used in meditation and therapy, it could help to achieve spiritual awakening, enlightenment or transcendence. Perhaps it could also help you achieve altered consciousness, alongside other techniques.

AM Drums’ Chakra drum

AM Drums’ Chakra drum is tuned to the C Major scale in 432Hz (the vibrational frequency of the universe – read more about that here).

While there are 7 major Chakras, AM Drums have 8 notes. Our 8th note completes the circle, giving you a full octave so that the drum can be used for music as well as healing.

We usually paint our Chakra drum like the photo, with tongues coloured to match each Chakra, followed by white for the top note. In the centre there is a golden Om symbol. You can also have the Sanskrit symbols for each Chakra painted onto each note.

Usually we do the background in bronze, however you can choose a different colour if you prefer. AM Drums’ Chakra drums are fully customisable.

We understand that there are some other, different Chakra musical scales in use, so if you have something else in mind, just ask.

Chakras

Chakras, in Hindu and Buddhist belief systems, are centres of Prāṇa, life force, or vital energy. Chakras correspond to vital points in the physical body i.e. major plexuses of arteries, veins and nerves.

Kundalini is described as a sleeping, dormant potential force (an unconscious, instinctive or libidinal force or Shakti), which is described as being coiled up at the base of the spine. It is often linked to sexual energy, but really encapsulates much more than that.

Through meditation the kundalini can be awakened, and can rise up through the different chakras (leading to awakening and mystical experiences), until it finally reaches the top of the head – the Crown Chakra – producing an extremely profound mystical experience of deep meditation, enlightenment and bliss.

Weak Chakras can cause problems in all areas of your life, so it is beneficial to try to energize these centres. Alongside meditation, music therapy can also be used to awaken the Chakras, as they have been found to be stimulated by particular sound frequencies.

A steel tongue drum, tuned to the right musical frequencies, would be the perfect companion to meditation for awakening the Chakras. AM Drums make special Chakra drums for this purpose (see below).

Certain musical notes are often associated with individual Chakras of the human body. While there are in excess of 300 Chakras, these are the notes (and colours) believed to awaken the first 7 Chakras:

Root chakra – Muladhara – Represents our foundation and feeling of being grounded.
Red – note C

Sacral chakra – Swadhisthana – Our connection and ability to accept others and new experiences.
Orange – note D

Solar plexus chakra – Manipura / Nabhi – Our ability to be confident and in-control of our lives.
Yellow – note E

Heart chakra – Anahata – Our ability to love.
Green – note F

Throat chakra – Vishuddha – Our ability to communicate.
Blue – note G

Third eye chakra – Ajna – Our ability to focus on and see the big picture.
Indigo – note A

Crown chakra – Sahasrara – The highest Chakra represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually.
Violet – note B

Seat of the Soul – also know as the Soul Star – the 8th Chakra – a hand width above the head, the point where spiritual energy and Divine love enters the body.
White – Note C (an octave higher than the first C).

How to play the Chakra AM Drum

To help awaken and stimulate the Chakras, we recommend you play notes individually while doing the appropriate meditation for each Chakra. You can also silence the other notes while you hit it (by muting them with the rest of your hand) for a purer sound, if you prefer.

However, awakening / transcendance of all kinds is very personal to each unique individual. AM Drums are versatile enough to play or use in any manner you choose.

While AM Drums’ Chakra scale (C Major, 432hz) is recommended, choosing a Chakra scale is entirely up to you, depending on what seems to to resonate with you.

Everyone has their own personal music scale, as part of their own individual uniqueness in the cosmos. Your personal scale could be different to both of these.

If you figure out what it is, maybe we can make it for you 😉
